Life Before KickStart
How was your body before Trevor Kashey Nutrition?
Before TKN I was still strong and working out pretty regularly, but I really needed to get my nutrition in check. My clothes were getting too tight or not fitting at all, and I just felt sluggish and tired.
How did that (state of being) make you feel?
It was messing with my confidence and also I just felt bloated, tired, and also disappointed in myself that I started to gain weight back after starting school.
Was there anything you were unable to do that you wish you could have done?
I was still very active, but buttoning my skinny jeans is something I definitely wished I could do – lol. I’m so close to fitting in them again and other pants and clothing that was feeling too tight is now fitting me again.
During that time, how did your current state of being affect those around you?
It impacted my husband because I didn’t want to be as intimate because I felt less confident about myself and tired.
The Moment Everything Changed
How did you hear about Trevor Kashey Nutrition?
My husband did Kickstart a few years ago and signed up for Private Coaching while I started Kickstart.
What were your doubts and fears before starting the program?
The time commitment and just having another thing to mentally focus on while I was in school felt overwhelming but I figured I’d rather put my energy into making improvements in my life rather than the energy I spend feeling frustrated or wishing I was taking better care of myself.
What made you say YES anyway?
I figured if I could get healthier and lose weight during one of the hardest times of my life I would be able to prove to myself that I can stay consistent through all the future road bumps I will face. I won’t be able to have the excuse “I don’t have time” ever again.
Life After KickStart
Where is your body/mind now?
I feel more confident and workouts don’t feel as difficult – I’m definitely moving better. I am also more in tune with my hunger cues and know when to stop eating. I just feel like I have more control.
How does that make you feel?
I feel more in control of myself and I have also retrained my brain to be okay with being hungry. Like if I’m a little uncomfortable because I’m hungry and there are no healthy options available then I’m like okay, I can wait just a little longer until I get home or can find a better option. I’m becoming more comfortable with being uncomfortable.
What are you able to do now that you were not able to do before (mentally, emotionally, or physically)?
I don’t feel the need to clean my plate and I don’t feel guilty for wasting food because I just listen to the voice in my head that says, “it’s okay – there’s going to be another meal later.”
The Ripple Effect
What positive impact did that have on others around you that you might not have expected?
I’m just happier in general and with Mike and I both making healthy changes, it’s encouraging our kids to be healthy
Liz’s Words to You
What would you tell someone who is reading this right now and is unsure about taking the next step?
I’d say just go for it – there’s literally no perfect time. I’ve got 3 young kids, my husband travels, I’m in nursing school full-time and we were heading right into the holiday season. There probably couldn’t have been a worse time for me to start kickstart, and I was tempted to wait until January, but I’m so glad I started when I did! The psychological and aspect and reflective exercises are really what set this program apart from others I have done.
