Emily’s KickStart Journey

After feeling stuck and lacking direction, Emily used TKN to align her body and mind, build lasting confidence, and create sustainable habits. Now she feels strong, in control, and excited about her progress and future.

Life Before KickStart

How was your body before Trevor Kashey Nutrition?
My body was in need of a change. I was feeling very blah. It was functioning but not at optimal levels. I had some good habits but it was mostly movement, exercise, and stretching- not nutrition. I wasn’t fueling my body well. I felt like I was doing things to help my body before TKN but I didn’t have a lot of direction or results. I didn’t know what needed to change but I knew I needed to make a change.

How did that (state of being) make you feel?
The state I was in was hopeful, motivated, and looking for direction and guidance. I was sad, down on my self confidence, uncomfortable in my clothes and how they fit. I never knew what to wear. The looser the close the better off. I was going the the gym but felt like I wasn’t getting anywhere. I knew certain activities didn’t feel good or even doable. I wanted to feel better abotu myself.

Was there anything you were unable to do that you wish you could have done?
I was starting to run and just felt like I was too heavy or to big to run. I wanted to feel light when moving. I noticed at work when I bent down to stock the bottom drawer of some carts at the end of the day, noises would come out of my mouth like the activity was burden to my body. I knew I wouldn’t feel good about myself or move better if I didn’t get some weight off.

During that time, how did your current state of being affect those around you?
I’m not sure my state actually effected others but I’m sure I wasn’t as confident, wasn’t as sure of myself, wasn’t looking good in my gym clothes, or moving as well. I think I was a little less outgoing, more reserved, or self consious about my looks and actions due to this. I know I tried to continue to be self confident and body positive during this time and did fairly well but it’s hard when you are truly not happy with your body or how you feel.

The Moment Everything Changed

How did you hear about Trevor Kashey Nutrition?
I heard about TKN from the Comfort Crisis book by Michael Easter (a great, great book!)

What were your doubts and fears before starting the program?
I knew I had to try something. I was afraid of spending a lot of money on the program only to be disappointed again. I didn’t know that the program would work for me. I didn’t want to starve or be hungry again, I’ve done other programs where that was the case. I really was skeptical for the first few weeks but I gave the program 100% since the beginning so I could embrace any changes that I could get out of the program. I feared that I would be uncomfortable sharing and being on Zoom with others. I don’t like being vulnerable especially when not feeling confident about myself physically. I had doubts I could try for 100% and get my money back because I didn’t totally understand all the platforms or the structure of the Kickstart program until about week 2, it was complicated.

What made you say YES anyway?
I said yes because I trusted Michael Easter’s other advice from the Comfort Crisis book. I said yes because I have a healthy HSA account (and my HSA CC payment went through when paying for this program) and wanted to give this program a try even though it was very expensive for me. I said yes to myself because it’s been a year of change and saying yes to myself in other ways. I have slowing been being happier and healthier over the last 4-5 years. This was just another layer of bettering myself.

Life After KickStart

Where is your body/mind now?
My mind and body are in alignment. They are seeing and feeling the changes. The changes I have made are sustainable. They are simple, easy but then at times they are very hard still. I love the support and guidance to keep myself on track. I am in a much better spot physically and mentally now. I am confident, I have faith that I can continue with good nutrition and movement in my life. I am excited to see what’s next for me. I love how I feel. I love how I look in my clothes. I look at myself in the mirror at the gym now and see a healthy figure. It’s amazing not only the weight that I’ve lost but the changes in body it self. It’s changed so much in a short 12 week time period. I am excited to get another body comp. test in a few more weeks so I have the data and the validation to see where I have come from and where I am going. I had one at the beginning, at 5 weeks into the program and will have one when I complete Kickstart. The data has been huge. I love seeing the positives and I love seeing the wins. Kickstart has us point out the wins, big and small. At first, I couldn’t point out any wins and now I love pointing them out for myself. I have so many, it’s honestly hard to keep track or recognize all of them.

How does that make you feel?
Excellent! I feel in control and in charge of my life. I have confidence. I have control. I have a plan! I have goals! I have solid statements of where I am going. I have a plan for the day, these are huge! It makes me feel great! I know what I’m doing. I have more to learn but I am invested in myself, interested in saying yes, and excited to do what makes me a better human.

What are you able to do now that you were not able to do before (mentally, emotionally, or physically)?
I am able to walk around the gym with confidence. I feel capable of being an athlete again. I have confidence during my crossfit workouts. I have a renewed since of life. I am able to do anything I put my mind to. I know it’s all about consistency and showing up for yourself. I know, I can do hard things. I am capable of relying on myself now.

The Ripple Effect

What positive impact did that have on others around you that you might not have expected?
My friends have been telling me that they are inspired by my motivation to be my best self. They will come with me to the gym, go for a walk or go out to eat with me. They are supportive of my choices. They are eating better or thinking about eating better themselves. I also think that sitting down to eat in a calm manner has helped my relationship with my husband. We are spending quality time together and not rushing through all our meals. We also sit down together for more meals and connect & discuss more now. I’m not sure what I was expecting exactly but it’s all been positive.

What would you tell someone who is reading this right now and is unsure about taking the next step?
The the first step. Try out Kickstart. It’s an investment into yourself, you are worth it. If you do a good job (100%) you have nothing to lose. It’s a great way to gain confidence, guidance, and reset your relationship with yourself. It’s a lot of self reflection and that is good for anyone. Also, you can read reviews and still be uncertain if the program will work for you but try it for yourself and then you can have your own opinion of if it works for you or not.
