Life Before KickStart
How was your body before Trevor Kashey Nutrition?
Bloated, fatigued, stressed out. I didn’t feel comfortable in it most of the time.
How did that (state of being) make you feel?
Bad. It felt like a cyclical issue that I was powerless to address. It bothered me that I’ve found the ability to change my life in so many other ways but changing my body had always seemed to slip by.
Was there anything you were unable to do that you wish you could have done?
Feel full and lose weight, be okay with being hungry, say no to certain foods or going out. Feel like I could train jiu jitsu or lift weights without eating way too much food before and after. Pretty much anything related to eating for performance or maintenance.
During that time, how did your current state of being affect those around you?
When I stress ate, it made me feel bad about myself and I definitely let some of that stress out on my partner. Being more aware of my stress now and just getting it under control pretty much eliminated the stress.
The Moment Everything Changed
How did you hear about Trevor Kashey Nutrition?
Caleb Sommer, an old friend and CrossFit coach I used to work with, told me about the program a few years ago. This was my 2nd time through Kickstart.
What were your doubts and fears before starting the program?
That I could stick with the program and actually lose weight that would stay off. I had no doubt I could lose it but had my doubts I would stick with the program after or build something sustainable for the future.
What made you say YES anyway?
I was tired of living a life where I felt powerless and out of control. I knew if I didn’t make a change now, I would still be dealing with the same issues in 10 years when it might be even more difficult to change.
Life After KickStart
Where is your body/mind now?
Healthier and more at peace. I have lost 22lbs and feel I can eat enough each day to be satisfied and stay at this weight or even optimize my body further.
How does that make you feel?
It opens up a new world of possibilities for me. It makes me think I can achieve other things by auditing where I’m at in life and by making decisions that reflect where I want to go. I’m more in control than ever before.
What are you able to do now that you were not able to do before (mentally, emotionally, or physically)?
Eat for fullness and joy without feeling guilty. Go out to eat without feeling terrible about myself. Eat without the “f it” mentality of all or nothing thinking. Prevent spiral thinking through rational thoughts.
The Ripple Effect
What positive impact did that have on others around you that you might not have expected?
I am a healthier more complete person that is more present around people in my life. I don’t think I knew how stifling my limiting beliefs were around food and eating and how resentful that had made me of others who have “figured it out.”
Ben’s Words to You
What would you tell someone who is reading this right now and is unsure about taking the next step?
You have to really want to make the change. For me, it took going through Kickstart twice and two years apart. But if you’re tired of your life being a certain way, this program offers a structure that can give you lasting results. If you’re not ready for that level of accountability, that’s okay, because it will be here waiting for you once you are.
