How was your body before Trevor Kashey Nutrition?
It was not great. I was strong and fit. But I was overweight and expanding. I had pains I didnt have before. I was losing mobility because of the size of my stomach. I was not comfortable in my clothes and was having trouble finding clothes that I looked good in.
How did that (state of being) make you feel?
I felt stressed and sluggish. I was still being active, but it was more difficult. My perfomance struggled because of the extra weight, even when my fitness was high. I did not have a healthy relationship with food, and it caused anxiety.
Was there anything you were unable to do that you wish you could have done?
Lose weight that I wanted to lose.
During that time, how did your current state of being affect those around you?
There was definitely times when I got frustrated and this made me less fun to be around. This definitely frustrated my wife and coworkers at time.
The Moment Everything Changed
How did you hear about Trevor Kashey Nutrition?
I heard about TKN from Michael Easter’s book, The Comfort Crisis.
What were your doubts and fears before starting the program?
I didnt know if I had the time to commit to it. I didn’t know exactly what to expect so I thought it might give me a plan that would be hard to stick to. I was afraid i wouldn’t enjoy the process.
What made you say YES anyway?
I knew that the permanent issues of the lifestyle were going to start happening if I didn’t change. I knew that my career would have a lower ceiling if I didn’t live a lifestyle that I am always telling my patients to do.
Life After KickStart
Where is your body/mind now?
Its much better. I have dropped weight. I have had to buy some new clothes that fit better. I look better in my pictures. I have more energy and random pains have decreased. I had some high blood pressure readings before starting, and the blood pressure has been normal every time I have checked recently.
How does that make you feel?
Amazing. I feel more energetic and confident. I know I have more work to do, but I feel more confident taht I have the tools now. I feel ready to start my new job feeling more comfortable in my body and ready to make a good impression.
What are you able to do now that you were not able to do before (mentally, emotionally, or physically)?
Crouch down in a deep squat without feeling it was harder to breath. Exercise up hills in the mountains without knee pain. Eat with awareness and feel true enjoyment and satisfaction in food.
The Ripple Effect
What positive impact did that have on others around you that you might not have expected?
My wife beats herself up a lot about the decisions she makes with our kids, since she is home with them all day. I have been pushing back quite a bit and telling her she is doing a great job. I have been encouraging her to identify small wins more frequently to help realize how good of a job she is doing.
Alex’s Words to You
What would you tell someone who is reading this right now and is unsure about taking the next step?
I would tell them that this process is eye opening. We are taught so many things about life, but very few people learn how to eat and act on purpose and with purpose like we should. Its crazy how silly everyone’s diet attempts are when the process is really very simple.
