Life Before KickStart
How was your body before Trevor Kashey Nutrition?
I was getting back to having trouble tying my shoes without catching my breath. Weak doing menial tasks, foggy/stressed/unable to focus effectively at work
How did that (state of being) make you feel?
Ashamed, powerless, wanting to give up because why bother?
I also felt profound disappointment for having failed my mother and my wife, arguably the two most influential women in my life
Was there anything you were unable to do that you wish you could have done?
Pull-ups (still can’t but working on it)
Lose weight
During that time, how did your current state of being affect those around you?
My husband knew I was frustrated with the situation. My kids constantly saw me on a “special diet” and couldn’t eat what they were eating.
The Moment Everything Changed
How did you hear about Trevor Kashey Nutrition?
I heard about TKN from Michael Easter’s interview for The Comfort Crisis on Mike Rowe’s Podcast. Then
I read the book.
What were your doubts and fears before starting the program?
I had doubts that it would work and that I would spend so much money and come away in the same place.
What made you say YES anyway?
I was told this wasn’t yet-another-diet. That it wasn’t about food, but about behavior.
I was failing in other areas of my life too, this resonated with me and I’m glad I took the plunge!
Life After KickStart
Where is your body/mind now?
Both moving towards my goals, I’m gaining more confidence in my ability to overcome the serial procrastinator I think I am.
How does that make you feel?
When I think back, it puts a tear or two in my eyes. I’m happy, I’m glad, I’m showing up.
What are you able to do now that you were not able to do before (mentally, emotionally, or physically)?
I’m able to take action, push back on food pushers, among so many other “little” things (that compound).
One big thing is… I don’t fear the scale. The scale is a datapoint.
The Ripple Effect
What positive impact did that have on others around you that you might not have expected?
My wife joined me for power foods, she’s helped me a lot. She’s also tracking her weight daily, weighing her food, eating similar foods to mine, we’re both exercising together, back to our walks.
Seeing her wanting to be healthier and moving towards that is a bigger win than me doing it!
Juan’s Words to You
What would you tell someone who is reading this right now and is unsure about taking the next step?
Just do it, it takes some effort but it is completely doable.
What’s more of a hassle, learning lifelong skills that will make you healthier and saner, or continuing down the path that ultimately brought you here?
