Katie’s KickStart Journey

After years of cutting weight only to regain it and doubting whether she could truly stay lean, Katie used TKN to break her cycle of self-sabotage, develop self-respect around food, and feel unstoppable both physically and mentally.

Life Before KickStart

How was your body before Trevor Kashey Nutrition?
My body before TKN was ok. Being a gym owner I lived an active lifestyle, and have never struggled with being overweight. I was a powerlifter and definitely carried around a lot of excess body fat…to my understanding the heavier you were…the more you could lift..haha.

How did that (state of being) make you feel?
Physically I looked ok, but mentally I tore myself apart for not being “fit.” Being a gym owner I had a vision of what I was suppose to look like. I can’t be telling people to live a healthier lifestyle if I wasn’t holding myself to those standards.

Was there anything you were unable to do that you wish you could have done?
When I joined TKN I was 30 weeks pregnant and had already put on 25 lbs. My initial goal was to not gain more and then post partum get back to my pre pregnancy weight. After that goal was attained I was thirsty for more. I wanted to get lean. I had done multiple cuts previously, but was never able to maintain where I cut too. So I was continuously gaining and losing the same 10ish pounds.

The Moment Everything Changed

How did you hear about Trevor Kashey Nutrition?
My hubby was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in 2018 and reached out to Dr. Kashey for some advice on how to manage the diabetes. a short 7 months later he bought me a coaching package 🙂

What were your doubts and fears before starting the program?
I didn’t want to give up the freedom to eat what I wanted and only eat broccoli and chicken. But I also knew I was going to have to make sacrifices to get where I wanted to. I also feared failure, what if I couldn’t handle the pressure to hit my targets and fall short. If I was going to pay someone to coach me (what we do) I had better succeed!

What made you say YES anyway?
Well my husband always says…every failure is one step closer to success, so ever if I “failed” I knew I could learn something from the journey and better myself. I knew I was capable of doing it and I knew it would take sacrifices, which I was reluctant about at first, but what I wanted more was worth it!!

Where is your body/mind now?
Looking good! Feeling great!

How does that make you feel?
TKN has given me the awareness of personal satisfaction and confidence. I am capable of more than I imagined and thanks to my coaches and the community support TKN provided I NEVER felt like a failure. TKN and Coach Ben gave me grace and support when I needed it, but also gave me some tough love to push me to break my beliefs! All of this makes me feel unstoppable. Excited for what’s next!

What are you able to do now that you were not able to do before (mentally, emotionally, or physically)?
Respect myself. And the choices that I make everyday in the kitchen. I have moments where I want to beat myself up for not staying on course, but I have been taugh that reacting doesn’t benefit me in any way. Instead, if I am proactive and slow down and think before I indulge I can accept it for what it is and move on. My cycle of self sabotage is improving 🙂

The Ripple Effect

What positive impact did that have on others around you that you might not have expected?
My kids are proud of me for my progress. Never thought I would hear my 10 year old tell me that I look good and that she is proud of me!
